Jeffrey Pfeffer is the Thomas D. Dee II Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Pfeffer is the author or co-author of 16 books on topics including power and politics in organizations, competitive advantage through the management of people, evidence-based management, and the workplace and its effects on behavioral and physical health. His best known titles are The Knowing-Doing Gap, Dying for a Paycheck, and 7 Rules of Power. He is currently working on a book on how U.S. employers could—and should—improve the effectiveness of the quite problematic U.S. healthcare system.

The author of more than 160 articles and book chapters, Pfeffer has won numerous awards for his scholarly research, including an Honorary Doctorate from Tilburg University in The Netherlands and induction into the Thinkers 50 Hall of Fame. He has served on the board of directors of several human capital software companies as well as other public and private company and non-profit boards.

Pfeffer received his Ph.D. from Stanford and taught at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of California, Berkeley, before returning to Stanford in 1979 as a full professor. He has taught seminars in 40 countries and has been a visiting professor at Harvard Business School, London Business School, Singapore Management University, and for many years, IESE in Barcelona.
