Jen Psaki

MSNBC Host and Former White House Press Secretary, Biden Administration

About

Jen Psaki is one of the most prominent voices in American politics today, credited with returning facts and integrity back to the White House podium. With wisdom and wit, she has mastered the art of demystifying complicated issues and debunking disinformation. Psaki is host of MSNBC’s Sunday afternoon and Monday evening program, Inside with Jen Psaki.

Psaki shares her journey and insights in her highly anticipated book, Say More: Lessons from Work, the White House, and the World. Her first book is a treasure trove of entertaining and insightful lessons from one of the most prominent voices in American politics today. From her time in the Briefing Room to working with different bosses and collaborating closely with President Joe Biden, Psaki reveals her straightforward approach to communication. She also reflects on the challenges and joys of being a parent while providing relatable stories and essential lessons.

From the Oval Office to the Situation Room, Psaki has been a top advisor to two Presidents and a Secretary of State. She has also broken barriers as a working Mom of two small children, returning to the White House when she was six months pregnant to serve as President Obama’s communications director during his final years in office.

Within the C-suite, audiences are given an insider’s understanding of what it is like to work at the center of political power including how and why difficult decisions are made. Psaki can speak to lessons learned over two decades about rebuilding trust in times of crisis, developing winning strategies for presidential and political campaigns and understanding the dynamics on the front lines of international negotiations.

For collegiate audiences she will bring a wealth of insights and often a counterintuitive perspective. She offers students a guide map through her first-hand experience navigating barriers facing women in the workplace, overcoming disappointment, finding mentors and the limitations of career planning.

More than a witness to history, she has been a leader in driving both change and impact. Whether in the Boardroom or the Classroom, Psaki’s candid and first-hand insights bring audiences in to the current debates facing political and government leaders today. Jen Psaki has been called “one of the best press secretaries ever,” providing a daily model for effectively communicating in a crisis with a balance of grace, substance, and humor.

Psaki’s tenure covered one of the most difficult periods in modern presidential history, from a deadly pandemic to record inflation, from the withdrawal from Afghanistan to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Prior to her time in the Biden White House, Psaki was a long-time advisor to President Barack Obama. She joined his then long-shot campaign at the beginning rising from traveling press secretary on the campaign to White House Communications Director for the final years of the Obama presidency. Psaki was described at the time by The New York Times as “the unflappable and genial point-person” to the media during the various crises of President Obama’s campaigns and presidency.

During the Obama Administration, Psaki also traveled the world with Secretary of State John Kerry as the State Department Spokesperson, guiding and serving as the administration’s public face on the global stage through the Iran nuclear negotiations, Russia’s 2014 invasion of Ukraine, and Middle East peace negotiations. She was a target of Russian propaganda during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2014 and is currently sanctioned by the Russian government for her outspoken defense of democracy and the global effort to defend Ukraine. As a veteran of three presidential campaigns and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Psaki has also spent two decades advising on strategy and communications for winning political campaigns. She has served in senior communications roles as the media environment and the way the public consumes information have rapidly changed and has guided a range of high-level officials through the transition.

She is a former CNN political commentator and former Vice President of Communications and Strategy at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Psaki is also a mom of two small children and a strong advocate for talking candidly about the challenges that still exist for women and mothers in the workplace.
