About
John Green is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines, Paper Towns, The Fault in Our Stars, Turtles All the Way Down, The Anthropocene Reviewed, and Everything is Tuberculosis. He is also the coauthor, with David Levithan, of Will Grayson, Will Grayson. He was the 2006 recipient of the Michael L. Printz Award, a 2009 Edgar Award winner, and has twice been a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. Green’s books have been published in more than 55 languages, and over 60 million copies are in print.
Green's latest book, Everything is Tuberculosis, was an instant #1 New York Times, Washington Post, and Indie bestseller. Regarded as a timely and "highly readable call to action" in a starred Kirkus review, the book is a deeply human social and scientific history in which Green illuminates the healthcare inequities that allow this curable, treatable infectious disease to also be the deadliest, killing 1.5 million people every year.
Beyond the paper, many of Green’s novels have been adapted to the screen, reaching global audiences across entertainment platforms. His blockbuster novels The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns were adapted into major feature films by Fox 2000 and Temple Hill. Green then continued to expand his streaming footprint, with the releases of the Max feature film Turtles All the Way Down, the Hulu limited series Looking for Alaska, and the Netflix holiday feature Let It Snow, all of which were adaptations of his books.
Alongside his brother, Hank, he co-created the premier educational media brand Crash Course, which provides free, high-quality curriculum across the humanities and sciences to tens of millions of subscribers and students worldwide. The duo also hosts the long-running Vlogbrothers YouTube channel and the hit comedy-advice podcast Dear Hank & John, anchoring a global, community-driven philanthropic movement that has raised millions of dollars in partnership with Partners In Health to combat global health inequities.
In 2026, John is set to release his first novel in nearly a decade. His new book, Hollywood, Ending, arriving in late September 2026, is already highly anticipated. The novel is centered around two actors and how their lives continue to change through their roles. With this release, John moves beyond the young adult genre, embracing a more mature and nuanced storytelling style.
John’s book reviews have appeared in The New York Times Book Review and Booklist, a wonderful book review journal where he worked as a publishing assistant and production editor while writing Looking for Alaska. John grew up in Orlando, Florida before attending Indian Springs School and then Kenyon College. He currently lives in Indianapolis with his family.
