The Home Edit
Clea Shearer & Joanna Teplin - Founders of The Home Edit
About
When the two met in 2015, Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin were both new Nashville residents; both hailed from California, and, independently, each had their own successful careers. Shearer had worked for MySpace and The RealReal, leading the company’s public relations and social media strategy, while Teplin had her own boutique greeting card line.
It was “friendship at first text” when they were brought together by a mutual friend, becoming business partners immediately thereafter. They founded The Home Edit with the goal of reinventing traditional organizing by merging it with design and interior styling. Since its inception, Shearer and Teplin have grown the business into a global omnichannel, multi-media lifestyle brand. Featuring premier service locations across the United States, the duo expanded into organizational products in 2019 and their signature retail lines are now sold in dozens of countries worldwide, including exclusive collections at The Container Store and Walmart.
Beyond retail, Shearer and Teplin are powerhouse media personalities. They are authors of their magazine, The Home Edit: Feel-Good Organizing, three New York Times bestselling books, and an interactive workbook. They hosted the podcast Best Friend Energy, star in and executive produce the Emmy-nominated Netflix show Get Organized with The Home Edit. They also serve as the hosts of ABC’s blockbuster network revival of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
In 2022, The Home Edit was acquired by Hello Sunshine, a division of Candle Media.
