Bret Baier is a prominent journalist in the news and broadcast industry. Known for his objective reporting, Baier currently serves as FOX News Channel’s (FNC) Chief Political Anchor and Anchor of Special Report with Bret Baier, the top-rated cable news program in its timeslot and consistently one of the top five shows in cable news. He is also an accomplished author with eight New York Times best-sellers and host to The Bret Baier Podcast.
Bret Baier's political coverage over the years has made him one of the most trusted journalists of the past decade. TIME magazine’s Joe Klein acknowledged Special Report with Bret Baier as the only “straight newscast” in cable news, and Baier was awarded the prestigious Sol Taishoff Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism.
During his tenure at the network, Baier has interviewed world leaders and key political figures, including Donald Trump, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Mike Pence, Dick Cheney, and Kamala Harris. He has anchored more than 30 political specials on FNC, reported from Iraq 12 times and Afghanistan 13 times, traveled globally with foreign administrations and military officials, and covered stories across 74 countries.
Previously, Baier conducted an exclusive interview with Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir following the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, as well as an exclusive sit-down with Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega amid the country's civil unrest. Alongside Martha MacCallum, Baier anchored FNC's coverage of Donald J. Trump's inauguration, delivering the highest-rated inauguration broadcast in network history, according to Nielsen. He also anchored Special Report live from Hanoi, Vietnam, delivering real-time analysis and expert interviews during the U.S.–North Korea Summit.
During political election cycles, Baier serves as co-anchor of Fox News Channel’s America’s Election HQ. His political reporting experience includes moderating five Republican presidential primary debates in 2016, interviewing all major presidential candidates—including Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders during a Democratic town hall—and anchoring presidential debates and national conventions dating back to 2012. Prior to taking the anchor chair, Baier served as FNC's Chief White House Correspondent starting in 2006, covering the second term of the Bush administration.
