Wilmer recently commenced filming season 23 of the hit series, NCIS, in which he has starred as “Special Agent Nick Torres” since 2016. He has also appeared as a guest role in NCIS: Hawai'i and NCIS: Los Angeles. Wilmer can recently be seen in Peter Chelsom's film A Sudden Case of Christmas opposite Danny Devito and Andie MacDowell. He also reprised his iconic role of "Fez" in Netflix’s That 90's Show. Wilmer voiced the role of “Augustin” in Disney's Golden Globe Award winning animated feature Encanto with original music by Lin-Manuel Miranda. He also voiced a role in Netflix's animated feature Dog Gone Trouble.

He was previously seen in a flashy role in Esteban Arango's film Blast Beat, which had its premiere at Sundance in 2021. He can also be heard starring as the voice of "Prince Charming" in the John H. Williams animated feature Charming, opposite Ashley Tisdale, Avril Lavigne, and Demi Lovato. He also starred in the FOX/Amblin series Minority Report, a sequel to the 2002 Steven Spielberg directed film, as well as in Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s first original television series From Dusk Till Dawn as "Carlos Madrigal," the series’ main villain. Wilmer can also be seen in the Netflix series The Ranch, the ABC series Suburgatory, and the NBC series Awake.
