About
Jameela Jamil is a one-of-a-kind multi-hyphenate who works as an actress, advocate, writer and host. Jameela was first seen on American television starring as Tahani in Mike Schur’s Golden Globe-nominated NBC sitcom The Good Place, opposite Ted Danson and Kristen Bell. Recent credits include the Netflix films People We Meet on Vacation and A Merry Little Ex-Mas, opposite Alicia Silverstone and Oliver Hudson. She voices the role of Ambassador Questa in the BAFTA Award-winning, and Academy Award, Golden Globe and Critics Choice-nominated Pixar film Elio, as well as voices Heidi in the upcoming Paw Patrol feature film. This fall she will begin shooting the independent feature The Zoo opposite Dominic Cooper and can be seen in the upcoming season of the BBC series The Split Up.
In 2022, Jameela officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe where she originated the first on-screen role of the Marvel villain Titania in the series She Hulk: Attorney at Law, currently streaming on Disney+. She also joined the cast of DC Comics’ animated feature film DC League of Super-Pets, voicing the role of Wonder Woman, as well as the Star Trek spinoff series Star Trek: Prodigy, voicing the role of Ensign Asencia. She joined the cast of Peacock’s comedy series Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin in the role of up-and-coming pop star Gisela. Jameela was a guest star in Poker Face, a murder mystery series directed by Rian Johnson, currently streaming on Peacock. Jameela was a judge on HBO Max’s hit competition show, Legendary.
Jameela created, produces and hosts the Gracie Award-winning comedy podcast Wrong Turns, celebrating the most cringe-worthy, disastrous, and in hindsight hilarious stories of Jameela's guests’ lives that led to comically awful consequences. There is no great moral or silver lining. Previous guests include Mae Martin, Atsuko Okatsuka, Simon Pegg, Jillian Bell, Jake Johnson, Bob The Drag Queen, Alan Carr, and many more. This year, as a featured comedic performance as part of the celebrated Netflix is a Joke Festival, Jameela hosted a live podcast recording of Wrong Turns featuring guests Lamorne Morris, Liza Treyger and Chris Flemming She also hosted and executive produced Bad Dates, an original SmartLess Media podcast series in partnership with Amazon Music and Wondery, which debuted at #1 on the Apple Podcast Comedy charts in March 2023.
Off-screen, Jameela is a powerful mental health advocate. In 2018, Jameela launched a movement and allyship platform called I Weigh – a platform and community of changemakers who come together to share ideas, experiences, and ultimately mobilize activism; exploring social issues that stem from mental health to climate change to the representation of marginalized groups. In 2020, the I Weigh with Jameela Jamil podcast launched with Earwolf in which Jameela speaks to a variety of thought-leaders, performers, activists, influencers and friends about their own experiences and stories with their mental health. With hilarious and vulnerable conversations, I Weigh amplified and empowered diverse voices in an accessible way to celebrate progress, not perfection. The podcast featured guests such as Gloria Steinem, Reese Witherspoon, Jane Fonda, Billy Porter, Demi Lovato, Tarana Burke and Alok Vaid-Menon to name a few.
In Fall 2024, off the success of I Weigh and her podcast, Jameela started a new movement called Move For Your Mind which works to democratize exercise and make it more accessible for all bodies, while promoting movement for mental health. MFYM published original content featuring interviews, editorial stories, BTS, mini docs, round-table discussions, informational assets and more across Instagram, X and YouTube. They hosted events globally with panel discussions, fireside chats, movement sessions and community walks.
