Robby Hoffman
Comedian | Emmy-Winning Writer | Emmy-Nominated Actress
About
Robby Hoffman is an Emmy-winning writer, Emmy-nominated actor, and comedian whose work spans stand-up, television, and podcasting. She is an ex-Hasidic lesbian who the New York Times has compared to Larry David due to the “mountain-out-of-a-molehill kvetching” that characterizes her comedy.
As a keynote speaker, Robby Hoffman brings audiences into sharp, hilarious, deeply personal stories about growing up, finding one’s voice, and learning to live without apology. Drawing on her unconventional path—from a crowded, low-income childhood in a large Hasidic family to building a career in comedy and television—she turns specific lived experiences into universal observations about resilience, ambition, belonging, and self-acceptance. Her style is candid, fast-moving, and disarmingly authentic: she uses humor not to avoid difficult subjects, but to make them more human and accessible.
More About Robby Hoffman
Born into a large family of natural comedians, Robby Hoffman has always been funny. So when she left her practical accounting job soon after college to pursue comedy writing and stand-up, it wasn’t long before the industry started to take notice. She received a Daytime Emmy for her work on the PBS series Odd Squad, her first television writing job. She also wrote for Netflix’s Workin’ Moms, The Chris Gethard Show, and Baroness Von Sketch Show.
With similarly precocious success as an actress, Hoffman earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for her first on-screen appearance as ‘Randi’ in HBO’s Hacks. She’s also had scene-stealing performances in FX’s Dying for Sex and HBO’s Rooster with Steve Carell. Building on her work with HBO, she is also writing, executive producing, and starring in Unentitled, a series based on her own life.
Hoffman has been hailed as “the future of comedy” by The Daily Beast, “an original comic talent” by Wall Street Journal, and in 2025, she was named one of Variety's "10 Comics to Watch." Her debut Netflix comedy special Wake Up earned a decisive “STREAM IT” from Decider, celebrating that she “doesn’t shy away from today’s hot-button issues, but instead jumps on the buttons.”
Unapologetically herself, Robby Hoffman empowers audiences to live their most authentic lives.
