Max will soon wrap filming the seventh season of The Neighborhood for CBS in which he stars opposite Cedric the Entertainer. He can be seen in Netflix's Running Point opposite Kate Hudson, Brenda Song, Scott MacArthur, and Drew Tarver which premiered February 2025 to rave reviews.
Recent credits of Max's include Chelsea Peretti's First Time Female Director, in which he stars alongside Chelsea, Amy Poehler, and Megan Mullally, Jerry Seinfeld's Unfrosted opposite Jerry, Melissa McCarthy, Jon Hamm, and Amy Schumer, Lionsgate's The Valet, opposite Eugenio Derbez and Samara Weaving on Hulu, and the scene stealing role of “Ronnie” in American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. He is best known for his starring role of “Schmidt” in the FOX sitcom New Girl, opposite Zooey Deschanel, for which he was nominated for an Emmy and Golden Globe.
On the film side, Max had a memorable role in Emerald Fennell’s Promising Young Woman opposite Carey Mulligan, Adam Shankman's What Men Want alongside Taraji P. Henson and Tracy Morgan for Paramount, and The Glass Castle alongside Brie Larson for Lionsgate. He also starred in the independent feature Steve's Umbrella, directed by Michelle Shumacher, as well as A Futile and Stupid Gesture, directed by David Wain for Netflix. He can be seen in a cameo role in The Big Short directed by Adam McKay, as well as in the independent film Hello, My Name Is Doris alongside Sally Field. He also starred in both Warner Brothers Veronica Mars and the independent feature About Alex for Jesse Zwick.
In 2006, he starred on the WB series Modern Men and had recurring roles on Veronica Mars, Ugly Betty, and Greek. Other television credits include Raising the Bar, Castle, Lie To Me, No Ordinary Family, Hot In Cleveland, and Happy Endings. Max also has a passion for producing, which led him to create and star in the Direct TV Channel 101 series The Gentleman’s League which follows himself and friend, Jerry Ferrara, in their real life fantasy football league.
Beyond the screen, Max Greenfield has charmed a new audience as a bestselling children’s book author. His debut, I Don’t Want to Read This Book, and follow-up titles I Don’t Want to Read This Book Aloud and This Book Is Not a Present bring his humor and heart to stories that inspire even the most reluctant readers. In 2024, he released Good Night Thoughts, a tender and witty bedtime story inspired by his friendship with the late Leslie Jordan. Drawing from his own experiences as a dad, Max’s books connect with children and parents alike, blending laughter with meaningful life lessons in a way that feels both playful and heartfelt.
